| MEDIA RELEASE 21 July 2011 Inaugural State Polocrosse Championships a Success Zone 16 successfully hosted the first ever Pony Club Association of NSW State Polocrosse Championships at Bungendore Showground from 15th to 17th July. Teams braved the cold conditions for an outstanding display of skills and sportsmanship. Five teams battled it out in the under 13's age group with the Zone 19 Team 1 topping the leader board. The seven rider team, predominately consisting of riders from the Hawkesbury ValleyPony Club, won seven out of their eight games played. Despite there being a total of nine teams in the 13 to under 17's, the championship was keenly contested between two local teams, the Zone 16 Fighters and the Zone 16 Warhorses. After eight matches the Zone 16 Warhorses sat at the top of the leader board, one point ahead of the Zone 16 Fighters. It went down to the wire when the two teams met in the final. After a five all draw in the round robin competition, the Zone 16 Fighters proved too good in the final taking the match, and championship, by six goals to three. Zone 20 Team 2 were flawless in the 17 to Under 25's with a perfect success rate of 100% wins. The team, which travelled from up from the Albury region, won all seven of their round robin matches before taking the final against the Zone 16 Hopefuls eleven goals to seven. The Zone 20 Team 2 scored an amazing 104 goals across the weekend with only 14 scored against them. After a successful weekend the Pony Club Association has already began preparation for next years championships to be held in July. To see the results please see attachment | |
